WHETHER IT WAS DISPLACED BENEATH LITTLEROOT DUE TO DIMENSIONAL ENTANGLEMENT, BROUGHT BACK TO FUNCTIONING ORDER DUE TO DIALGA, OR BOTH, can not be determined. However, this kingdom made entirely out of intricate mechanisms is void of human life. Clockwork gears, iron tunnels, and curious domes make up this kingdom that continues to function like an animatronic music box.[break][break]

Mechanical Pokemon like Magearna, Volcanion and others present in the kingdom seem to be robotic, set to a rhythm or programming like an animatronic figure.[break][break]

Several clock towers loom above the entire kingdom, though their machinery seems to be in disrepair.

🗺️ SPECIAL HUNT: paxton concordas will be able to encounter a VOLCANION that can speak. This is the same Volcanion that destroyed a humanmade tower and encountered Alexei Ivanov in an underwater cavern. You must win its trust in some way, for it is wary of humans due to an unknown reason, but perhaps related to the events that have transpired in this kingdom a long time ago.[break][break]

It guards several SOUL-HEARTS that it is attempting to repair. It will manage to repair one Soul-Hearts by chance as it transfers some of its INFINITY ENERGY to it, shortening the Volcanion's life. The Volcanion is doing this in an attempt to find the MAGEARNA it had sworn to protect a long time ago, believing itself to be the last surviving "knight" of the royal guard.[break][break]

Bringing one SOULLESS MAGEARNA to the Volcanion will allow Paxton to open a hatch on the Magearna's chest to install the Soul-Heart in order to grant it "life", which then can be captured.

"Stay alert. The last time I was here I think I got brain washed." he said, tapping at his ears to show off one of the ear plugs already in. [break][break]

He adjust his pack pack and nods at his companion. "Very embarrassing. Also incredibly horrifying to get locked out of your own motor skills." he said as he led his companion- friend through the rift into the MECHANICAL KINGDOM. [break][break]

Last time he'd been there with luciano fisk and last time he'd nearly gotten him hurt. Luciano, of course, didn't want to return and Paxton hadn't wanted to bring him. They came to an agreement on that at least. But he was still curious. He wanted to see the Magearna again, even if they were hostile. The myth he was familiar with spoke of a sentient one. [break][break]

And Melody Miro had mentioned a sentient Volcanion somewhere on Hoenn. This had to be where it was from right? The only question was- how had the Volcanion gotten to Hoenn? Or had its appearance been foreshadowing for the weakness in their fabric of reality? [break][break]

He trudges forward, the scenery changing into the more mechanized landscape as their made their way towards the castle in the distance, this time avoiding going into the city proper and navigating around it.

[break][break] callie is bemused as she follows her captain into the depths of the kingdom. it's the first time she's been there, but if it's like any of the other rifts she'd traveled to, it would be dangerous.

[break][break] engaging in light conversation made it all easier.

[break][break] "must have been hell of a first date."

[break][break] heat unfurled from the machinery as they passed through, the ground beneath their feet turning more mechanical as they continued forth. the sight of the landscape churned from rocky littleroot into rocky kingdom into iron tunnels.

[break][break] the sight of the massive MECHANICAL CASTLE in the distance was breathtaking, nearly something out of a storybook.

"I thought he would enjoy the architecture!" he hissed, irritated as his very bad choice of a date night location. He was lucky Luciano would speak to him after that. [break][break]

"It...wasn't really a first date. Just a date." he added with a shrug. A bad follow up if he'd ever seen one. [break][break]

"We try to...get in there." he said gesturing vaguely at the castle. He sighs, unsure how to do that and turns to look at the rest of the city. As he moves he yelps as something squeaks underneath his feet. A strange green blob? cell?? stares up at him with one disgusting eye before rushing off. "Wait- Callie- did you see that!?" he asked taking after it as quickly and quietly as he could.

[break][break] callie glances up at the mechanical castle that towers ahead of them. it's weathered stone and rock stand out in breathtaking display, one that she had not even seen in the crumbled rubble of kanto.

[break][break] she's too busy staring that she doesn't notice the green blob that chases under paxton concordas 's feet, not until he's running after it.

[break][break] "hey! wait!"

[break][break] but it's too late. she knows her captain is stubborn as the best of them, and she can't exactly fault him for it because she's the same way. she chases after him, until she watches the mysterious green cell disappears underneath a wooden door at the back-end of the castle. the servant's quarter's most likely.

[break][break] a LOCKPICK flicks into her hand. callie knows to come prepared after all.

[break][break] she flashes a grin.

[break][break] "have i ever told you about my days on the street in johto? it's quite a story."

[break][break] callie crouches in front of the door, and in a few quick motions, the door clicks open. a heel slams against the door, blasting it wide open.

"Dunno, got mind controlled half the time and nearly got everyone caught." he said, already anticipating the ribbing Callie would give him. Thankfully, he forgets the rest, too busy chasing the weird green cell as it leads them to a closed door. He steps aside for Callie, snorting as she mentions Johto. [break][break]

Like he wasn't aware. They'd known each other for so long, of course she'd told him some stories. But still, he feigns ignorance. "No, never." She kicks down a door and he added, "You seemed like such a refined officer." [break][break]

He rolls his eyes at her. "Sure, but don't think I see any at the moment." he said, stepping past her. As he does, he grabs a flashlight and begins to search around. The servant's quarters are dusty, decrepit. But as he steps through to investigate, he sees that little weird cell again. "Callie! It's here!" he hissed, attempting to scoop up the little creature before it slithered out of its grasp. He takes off again, awkward as he tried to be fast but quiet all the same. But the little thing leads him past the servant's quarters and down into a great hall. Only- [break][break]

"Shit-" he freezes, the green thing escaping him. A handful off Magearna, eyes soulless and gears clicking loudly turn to him to analyze before beginning to stomp towards him slow at first. Then fast as hell. Paxton steps back. "Shit! Shit! Go back!" he said as tried to backpedal towards his companion.

[break][break] she gave him a look, then abruptly burst into laughter.

[break][break] "we have to work on your game, pax. seriously."

[break][break] not that she was any better, but callie would rather be a hypocrite than an idiot.

[break][break] with a click, the lock fell apart in a matter of minutes and she grinned smugly at him.

[break][break] "aw, refined? you shouldn't have." she stepped towards him and patted his cheek. "you have a boyfriend."

[break][break] but as fun as teasing him is, they're on a mission. callie follows paxton concordas into the servent's quarters. the dark, and dusty corridors were enough to send a shiver down her spine, but she clicks on a flashlight to mimic him. a sharp whistle sends skoll darting forward with a DOUBLE TEAM to investigate the area.

[break][break] the lycanroc blurs back into a single body at the sound of paxton concordas calling his trainer back. shit.

[break][break] "captain! back off!"

[break][break] skoll rushes into motion. a QUICK GUARD covers paxton and callie, as her fletchinder is released from it's body. encased in flame, the bird FLAME CHARGES towards the magearna.

He slides through the opening, just as Skoll managed a QUICK GUARD. He skids on dirty stone before scrambling up and looking to Callie. As the Fletcinder moves into action, He lets out Joules who takes only a few seconds to look around before Paxton whistles and points at the Magearna. The pokemon sparked with a ZAP CANNON before waiting for Callie's partner to move aside. [break][break]

"C'mon, back through the kitchen and servant's quarters! I saw a door, and anything's better than the guards." he said, hands on his ears as he looked a bit panicked. "Remember the brainwashing? It was them! I think-" he added moving past her but not too long, waiting for his partner to keep up before dashing towards the cellar door. [break][break]

Before the weird music could start blasting, he rips open the cellar door and flashes his flashlight down it before waiting for Callie and her pokemon to run in. When she finally does, Joules pushes forward, just enough to be able to let Paxton slam the door shut before the Magnezone attaches themselves to their trainer.

"right!" she agrees, with a sharp nod. they have to find an exit, before those — whatever those things were caught up to them.

[break][break] her eyes glance sharply towards something silver just in paxton concordas's way.

[break][break] "cap, watch out!"

[break][break] it looked just like those guards that were chasing them, but different, somehow. she let him deal with it, though. she had a plan.

[break][break] callie broke through the door right after paxton, barricading the door with a long soup spoon. then she turned, realizing they were back into the servant's quarters. her eyes widened at the sight of what appeared there. an entryway to tunnels. it wasn't like callie was afraid of the dark but.

Its a tight fit with Joules around so he switched to Volta, his excitable Sandy Shocks. The paradox pokemon sparks and glows with electricity as he nods over at his partner. As they push through the tunnels, the things widen and there's eventually noise. [break][break]

Dozens and dozens of Carbink all moving around, tirelessly working on- something? Practically chained...but by what. Paxton feels for them much like his second does, he gets Volta to help. Volta, after careful consideration uses a well placed EARTH POWER to help brake chains. The attack not only released the Carbink with Skoll, but also unearths an old, unmoving MAGEARNA body. Paxton waves them off when they excitedly scurry off. "What could've done that to them?" he asked Callie before continuing on their way. He swerves to look at the MAGEARNA wary of it before realizing it had no power left. [break][break]

A shame. He knew about these creatures. An inkling from his youth but still... He brushed off the living legend carefully, frowning in disappointment. At most, he can sit up the heavy body but it doesn't respond. Finally, he gives up. [break][break]

Before Paxton can really answer Callie's question, he spots the Volcanion she's talking about, deep underground. Foreboding inn appearance as they enter a large, high ceilings clearing. [break][break]

"Shit-" he gets defensive immediately, stepping in front of Callie and eyeing the creature suspiciously. What was it doing down here? Looking for the intruders? [break][break]

But the beast is at work, toiling on a pile of strange creations. [break][break]

"I tire of your whispering, outsider." it huffs, pausing in its work and turning to them. [break][break]

"You speak-?!" he nearly gasped, remembering a conversation he'd had with Melody Miro about the Volcanion who mentioned searching for SOUL HEARTS. [break][break]

"Of course I speak, foolish human." the creature grumbled, turning back to it's work and tinkering with a small pile of metal. [break][break]

Paxton look to Callie, eyes wide with excitement. He might recognize this thing. "It's- I think- It's neutral, if you don't give a shit about property damage and the destroyed space tower." he said.
